Overview

For this project, we created new branding for a film fesitval and designed key pages of their website. We then had to animate the logo, website, and advertisements for the event. The Overlook Film Festival is a four-day celebration of horror, thriller, and sci-fi genres, set in New Orleans — a city renowned for its rich history and supernatural lore . Dubbed a "genre summer camp," the festival offers a blend of screenings, immersive experiences, and live events, creating an intimate and spirited environment for genre enthusiasts.

Concept

I aimed to capture the emotional tension of a scary movie—both the suspense and the small, irrational fears that arise while watching one. Visually, I took cues from Stephen King book cover designs, a reference that aligns with the festival’s name (“Outlook” nods to the hotel in The Shining). I also studied Alfred Hitchcock’s title sequence openings, using their distinctive motion and pacing as inspiration for the movement in this project.
